Create, edit and delete 301 redirects individually or in bulk.
Individual 301 URL redirects redirect traffic from a discontinued webpage to an actice one.
For example, when you unpublish or delete a product from your store, you can use a URL redirect to ensure your customers still find relevant content.
When creating a new 301 redirect, the 'Redirect to' URL can be a relative URL, like /collection/shirts
, or a full URL, like http://www.example.com/collection/shirts
.
To redirect customers within your primary domain, use a relative URL. To redirect outside your primary domain (including to a subdomain), use a full URL.
If you're unable to save your 301 redirect, you can learn how to resolve the error message.
If you're able to save your 301 redirect successfully but it doesn't start working immediately, learn why.
301 redirects apply to all language or market subfolders you've set up using Shopify International.
For example, let's saycyour primary market is the United States on example.com
. and you have a market for Canada on a subfolder at example.com/en-ca
.
You then delete a product and create a single URL redirect from /products/blue-t-shirt
to /collections/t-shirts
.
After creating the URL redirect, customers in the United States who try to visit /products/blue-t-shirt
are automatically redirected to example.com/collections/t-shirts
, and customers in Canada who try to visit example.com/en-ca/products/blue-t-shirt
are automatically redirected to example.com/en-ca/collections/t-shirts
.
You can still create individual redirects for each subfolder if you want to redirect visitors to a different destination URL for each market.
To save time, you can edit the 'Redirect to' URL for multiple 301 redirects at once.
You can delete individual redirects, or multiple at once. Note that this action can't be undone.
It may take some time to complete if you're deleting a large number of redirects at once. You can continue working and we'll send an email when it's complete to the email address you signed up to Shopify with.
You can search through your redirects based on the 'Redirect from' or 'Redirect to' URL.
